Emergencies can occur at any time and can affect our environment, community and the ones we love. Knowing what emergencies may occur in your community, and knowing what to do will help to minimize their affects.
The Timiskaming Health Unit’s role is to work with other agencies to reduce the impacts from an emergency. Examples include providing the public with information about safe drinking water and inspecting the safety of evacuation centers.
The
Timiskaming Health Unit will take the lead role for a public health emergency,
such as an outbreak of disease in the community.
To minimize the effects of an emergency, know the risks, make a plan, get a kit and communicate your plan with your loved ones.
