All communities and individuals must follow federal (Government of Canada), provincial (Government of Ontario), and municipal orders for gatherings, closures, face coverings, and travel.

Provincial governments, municipal governments, police services, and the Timiskaming Health Unit all have a role to play in enforcing orders and closures.

The following options are available for enforcement:

  • Federal quarantine requirements Compliance with the orders is managed by the Public Health Agency of Canada with support from other agencies, including the Canada Border Services Agency, local police, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Community members who would like to make a complaint regarding compliance with federal quarantine requirements should contact one of these organizations.
  • Infection prevention and control Community members who would like to make a complaint regarding a business’s infection prevention and control (for example, complaints related to sanitation and cleanliness), should contact the Timiskaming Health Unit at 705-647-4305 and ask to speak to a Public Health Inspector.
  • Workplace safety Workers who would like to make a complaint regarding workplace safety should contact the Ministry of Labour
