Foundations for a Healthy School
Visit our Schools and COVID-19 page for resources to support your children or students during the pandemic.
Healthy Schools Framework
A healthy school promotes physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being for the whole school community. It’s a healthy environment to learn, work, and play. A Healthy Schools approach involves the whole school community coming together to take action to help kids lead healthy and active lives.
School staff, parents and community partners can access the Timiskaming Health Unit’s specialized services related to environmental health, family health, immunization, oral health, sexual health, tobacco enforcement, workplace wellness, and school health promotion.
We can also collaborate with school community members in ways that work best for your school. We can join meetings for student council, parent council meetings, youth groups, or any health-related group.
School Public Health Nurses (PHNs)
Each school nurse supports a family of schools for all school health needs. Find your school nurse’s contact information on the school public health nurse chart.
Inquiries from school staff can also be directed to our dedicated email address, monitored Monday-Friday.
