Rainbow Food Explorers Educator Toolkit

The Rainbow Food Explorers toolkit was developed to support you in weaving food education throughout your early childhood curriculum. 

This toolkit is full of practical ideas, tips, and hands-on activities. Explore 30 fruits and vegetables through sensory activity cards as well as cross-curricular and supplementary materials. Activities are organized under the following categories:

Blender Bike

The Blender Bike is a fun and exciting way to promote healthy eating and physical activity at events in the Timiskaming area.

To borrow the Blender Bike, check the documents found here and submit the completed request form to the Timiskaming Health Unit (contact included in the form).

Body Image Display board

Grades: 6-12

 

Interactive display board and spinning wheel that promotes a healthy body image for youth in grade 6-12.

Youth are invited to participate in a “Spin the Wheel” game and answer questions about:

  • Healthy eating
  • Physical activity
  • Self-esteem
  • Lifestyle issues (e.g., tobacco, sexual health, substance misuse, mental health, stress, sun safety)

Questions are designed to:

  • Raise awareness about the factors that influence body image
  • Educate youth about health promoting behaviours
